What to tip your server?

Most restaurant servers get 15% of the bill (excl. tax) for adequate service; 20% for very good service; no less than 10% for poor service.   It all depends how good of service you give, in some cases servers can make 20% to 30%, also to mention the type of restaurant and how good of a mood the people at your table are, plays a major part too in how much the tip should be.

It is the serves objective to promote mood or Food? At times I believe that they are working for the tip even though they were not working that hard.
